Some of the national auto racing events that take place include the Daytona 500, Indy 500, as well as other smaller NASCAR competitions throughout various states that all have huge rewards attached to them. Your Indian Vacation And Its Tourism

| Articles | October 27, 2011

Indian vacation is currently among the most popular vacations. Tourism has become one of the largest service industry in India. The geographic diversity, culture wonders and different traditions have lured more and more foreign and domestic visitors to India. Aside from these wonders, the Indian hospitality which can be defined by the motto “Athidhi Devo Bhava” or “when the guest is treated as God” has been among the major reasons for tourists to return to India for more.

India is gifted with natural wonders like the large known mammals like the Bengal tiger and the Asian elephant. There are about 75 national parks in India and 421 sanctuaries, providing safe home to among the animals which are globally protected. Aside from its wildlife, India is also known for its flora and outstanding and scenic views, like the white sand beaches, valleys and hills, forests and deserts.

There are also historic monuments, palaces, forts and other architectural sights like the well known Taj Mahal built between 1631 to 1653 as a tomb for the emperor’s wife. Aside from these monuments there are also temples like the Golden Temple in Punjab. Others could get interested in the temples dedicated for the celebration of love, sexuality, coupling and worship in Khajuraho.

In 2005, a study conducted by the World Travel and Tourism Council showed that India has become the fastest growing Asia-Pacific market for international tourist spending. In the next ten years, there is an estimate of 18.8 percent growth in terms of Indian tourism. This last three years had showed that Australian and British foreigners have increased. Australians had a record figure of 1.000.000 visitors, while British visitors who are both in business and leisure trip had reached 3,000,000, according to Indian Tour Operators Promotion Council.

If you would analyze the amount of earning of India on tourism, its even bigger than the earnings of United States. Last 2005, India saw an earning of US $ 6.9 billion from foreign tourists, while, US earned US $ of 3.1 billion. This was also the fastest year for tourism earnings in India to increase, there was an estimated increase of 36 percent in tourist earnings.

But statistics lately on Indian vacation seems to be the largest. In 2008, Indians were already welcoming 5 million foreign tourists every year. Translated into earnings, it would be equivalent to US $100 billion and is expected to grow by 9.4 percent until 2018.

The Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Report 2007, India ranked to be 6th in terms of price and 39th in terms of safety and security. In international surveys, India has become one of the top five tourist hot spots in the world. Foreign tourists vacations peak on October to February. Foreigners would not only make leisure trips, but also for business trips.

In spite of all the raves about Indian tourism, there are also travel advisories that a vacationer should always keep in mind. According to the Indian Tour Operators Promotion Council here are some things that we should keep in mind during our Indian escapades:

Every country has its terrorism as a threat, there has been incidents of Indian bombings in the past. Security has already been tightened in major cities in India, however, if making plans if it is important to consider hat kind of places are known to be targets of terrorist acts.

There are also some areas in India that has ongoing political strife, it would be best to avoid these kinds of places. It is best to get updated if there are any places were political stress is happening.

There are also places that should be avoided because of their instability. For example are Jammu and Kashmir areas are better to be avoided since of an ongoing dispute between these Indian locations and nearby Pakistan.

Natural catastrophe can struck anytime, anywhere. India has active seismic zones and are subject to earthquakes. There are also some coastal places in India where cyclones could happen.

There are also local customs and laws that are followed and should be abided by the visitors, too. This would be behaviour and dress code in northern India and religious places. Also, homosexuality and its acts are illegal in India and would involve severe penalties.

There are also necessary precautions that should be taken against mosquito and water-borne disease like malaria, cholera, dengue and typhoid to ensure that you will be having a healthy Indian vacation

Every since civilization started many people have been suffering from psychological disorders such as sadness and strange and awkward behavior. There have been many of scientists that have tried to figure out the cure for them and treat these disorders. Classifying psychological disorders have their roots back far in ancient times with the Romans and the Egyptians. Even today, classifying psychological disorders follow a medical type model. However, classifying psychological disorders is not very easy and is harder than it sounds and is very controversial. Even though the classification system has disadvantages, I think it’s safe to say that the classification system outweighs the disadvantages. It provides a means of effective communication between psychologists. Also, the classification system can help psychologists make predictions such as the probability that a disorder will occur and about the individuals that are more likely to develop a certain mental disorder and about the rules for treatment. To help make classifying psychological disorders easier the American Psychiatric Association came out with the first system of grouping psychological disorders in the United States in 1952. This manual was known as the DSM-IV (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders). The 1994 edition is the most current version that I’m aware of and includes 17 major classifications and describes more than 200 disorders. The DSM had undergone changes and probably will go more in the future which shows the advancement in knowledge of psychological disorders over the years. The DSM-IV has added and dropped categories from its manual which has caused some major controversial by psychologist you relied heavily on those techniques. An important feature of the DSM-IV is its multi axis features. It has five axes to accurately diagnose an individual with a mental disorder by characterizing them in terms of a number of factors. The five axes of DSM-IV include:

Axis I: Every diagnostic category except for personality disorders and mental retardation.

Axis II: Mental retardation and personality disorders.

Axis III: Most medical conditions

Axis IV: Social and environmental complications.

Axis V: Current functioning abilities.

Axes I-II describes the majority of psychological disorders, and Axes III-V is not really needed in diagnosing a psychological disorder but they are there to consider the person’s over all life situation. For example, an individual may have high blood pressure which is an example of Axis III, which needs special precautions to treatment because some mediation can worsen the symptoms for individuals. The DSM-IV was put together by a number of mental health professionals and included a diverse range of audiences which was something missing in the previous manuals because the majority consisted of mostly white male psychiatrists. The biggest controversial part about the DSM-IV is that the symptoms are still described in a psychiatric manner. Even though more psychologists have participated in it then ever, it still shows a medical model of diagnosing patients which puts less emphasis on external factors such as environmental effects on mental disorders. There are some common issues with labeling in the DSM-IV. Some of the categories for mental disorders are what some people would include to be everyday harmless activities. For example, if someone has a hard time learning mathematics, or writing skills than that could be labeled as a mental disorder. Also, an addiction to some substances like a nice cappuccino from Starbucks would be classified as a mental disorder because the individual will be viewed as having a substance abuse problem. Furthermore some individuals that do not have a mental disorder may turn out to believe that they do by a simple misdiagnoses. The term that refers to when people believe that they believe something when it is told to them is known as the self fulfilling prophecy. Labels can also have harmful side effects on the individual and cause them to lose self esteem when they think that they are mentally ill. A lot of time, individuals will avoid seeking help to avoid these labels because they don’t want people to think of them differently. The DSM-IV may have its critiques and inaccuracies but it’s still the most comprehensive mental categorizing system currently available. Like mentioned earlier, there are many categories for mental disorders. A very common one that affects close to 19.1 million Americans is anxiety disorders. If you constantly worry than that could be an indicator that you have some type of anxiety disorder. An anxiety disorder is a psychological disorder that can cause a variety of abnormalities in the motor function. Examples of anxiety disorder include generalized anxiety disorder, phobic disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder, panic disorder, post-traumatic disorder, and social anxiety disorder. I’m going to discuss generalized anxiety disorder first because its one of the more common anxiety disorders. Take this case study for example. Amy is a thirty year old woman and ever since she and her husband have been arguing she has developed a lot of built up tension and nervousness everytime she goes out in public. She feels trembling and usually be perspiring when she comes back from shopping. These are the common symptoms of an anxiety disorder. With phobic disorders on the other hand, the individual has an intense fear of a particular object or thing. A lot of people are informed about some common ones such as the fear of spiders or Arachnophobia, and the fear of closed tight spaces or Claustrophobia. However there are a lot more bizarre ones that people may not be informed about such as Dikephobia or the fear of justice and Geliophobia or the fear of laughter. A very interesting psychological disorder is obsessive compulsive disorder and the individual has these obsessions to do things in a particular way or order and it is causing them mental distress. For example, they may have a need to get dressed and take their clothes off in a particular manner and if they mess up than they must start over again because they ruined the sequence. These rituals will consume up a vast majority of the individual’s time. Panic disorder is when the individual has periods of deep fear. This usually doesn’t last too long and some symptoms are the individual will tremble and experience a shortness of breath. Next, post traumatic disorder is the feelings of emptiness and depression an individual will experience after a traumatic event such as after a plane crash or abuse/rape. Even though men and women can experience this disorder is more likely to exist with females. Last, a social anxiety disorder is a fear of being in social situations and being evaluated by others. A classic example is being extremely uneasy and nervous during a job interview.

You got to sell it

| Articles | October 25, 2011

It’s important for both parties to know that when goods are sold, what are the price of the item and the timing of the payment. It’s also good to know what are the stipulations if any that apply to the return of merchandise. Different companies quote their prices by using different methods. A lot of merchants will generally quote the price that they will like to sell it. On the other hand, some merchants such as manufacturers or wholesalers will usually quote their prices as a percentage of their catalogue prices, generally around 30 percent or more, and this reduction I known as a trade discount. For example, if something is listed as $1,500 with a trade discount of 30 percent or $450 then the seller writes the sell as $1050, and the buyer records it as $1050. From there the seller can raise or lower the price depending on the quantity that is being sold. The terms of sales are usually on the sale invoice and tell the type of terms to the agreement. In a lot of industries the payment is expected within a short time of the purchase. If it’s for 15 days then the invoice will have “n/15” (net 15) or “n/20” (net 20) which means that the amount is due 15 or 20 days later. In most industries a discount is usually offered for an early payment. This type of discount is called a sale discount which has the purposes for increasing a seller liquidly by reducing the amount of money associated with accounts receivable. An invoice with a discount may look like “3/10, n/20,” which that the purchaser can pay within 20 days and receive a 30 percent discount, or they can pay within twenty days and pay the full price for it. If you have noticed, the amount of discounts have been decreasing because one, its quite expensive to the seller, and two, to the customer it appears that they are not receiving a bargain even though they may. In some industries it is expected for the seller to pay for some charges, and others it may not. One example is in the freight industry. FOB shipping point basically means that the buyer is paying for all of the shipping expenses. So if you purchase something heavy and the sales agreement says FOB then that means that you are responsible for the shipping charges. However, FOB destination is the opposite and means that the seller pays the shipping or transportation expenses once it is delivered. A lot of retailers will give buyers the opportunity to charge the shipping expenses to dome type of third part service. The five most used credit cards are:

* American Express

* Visa

* Discovery Card

* Diners Club

* MasterCard

The customer is given credit by the lender or credit card issuer, and receives a shiny plastic card to charge their purchases to. Once the seller accepts the card, the invoice is automatically prepared and the seller receives money into their account. If the seller is offering a discount, the discount is recorded as an expense to the seller. Let’s not forget that the seller’s merchant also deducts money for each transaction, and that money that is deducted is also recorded as an expense. Let’s not forget that you also have something that is known as freight in, also called transportation in. this is the shipping costs that are associated with receiving particular merchandise, and is generally included with the cost of goods sold. A lot of companies like to include the cost of freight in with the cost of the merchandise, because it is a relatively small amount of money. Sometimes the buyer is expected to pay the freight in and it is reported as an increase in the accounts payable. Also, if the seller experienced a return because of the wrong item shipped, or for a damaged/low quality product, then the buyer may be granted a refund for cash or for credit back to their account. The returned purchased is deleted from the merchandise inventory account under the perpetual system. Sometimes sellers will pay the delivery or the freight out costs hoping that it will increase their sales. These expenses are gathered in the freight out expense, or commonly known as delivery expense. This is viewed as a selling expense on the income statement. When a customer is dissatisfied with a product, they will usually return it and these costs are gathered in the sales returns and allowances account which gives the management a more flexible estimate of what products to keep and which ones to discard of. This account deducts sales from the income statement. A merchandising company can have inaccurate records as well as experiencing a huge loss profits if they don’t have reliable accounting records. The management is the one I charge for making the system for internal control. Internal control is the policies that a management puts to action to make sure that the financial information is reliable. This is the process that the management takes to protect their assets. It also confirms that the employees have conformed to legal requirements so that they will do the best job possibly for the company. Since the managers are the ones in charged of the structure of a business they must report their goals and progress to the “Report Management” of a company’s annual report to stockholders. To be successful with internal control, management uses five parts of internal control. They are: Control environment, risk assessment, information and communication, control activities, and monitoring. Control environment deals with the overall attitude, and actions of a management system. It also includes the management ethics, integrity, and philosophy. The employees must also be properly trained and very knowledgeable in the field their participating in. The risk assessment is the analysis of the risk of an environment and how to monitor them. These include screening out thieves in a retail store, or employees that are likely to steal from a company. Next, information and communication correlates to the accounting system by establishing management, and reporting a company’s transactions. Control activities are the restraints that management puts in place to make sure that instructions are properly carried out. Last, monitoring involves the periodic assessment to make sure that all policies are enforced.

YOU DON’T LIKE YOUR COUCH ANYMORE

| Articles | October 24, 2011

You bought a couch that, in the store looks astonishing and you loved it. A special color, a soft and pleasant fabric… In one word, a good investment! But when bringing it a home you realize it just doesn’t fit, the color is too flashy, the carpet is not visible anymore and even the room looks darkened all of a sudden.

Don’t even think of throwing it away or of buying another one! You can get rid of the little imperfections and make your new piece of furniture earn its well-deserved place within the harmony of your house.

It is not such an uncommon problem as it might seem at first. Surely, in the sore, looking at the couch from an appreciable distance, you couldn’t tell it has a color that doesn’t work in your house. Now, after you actually see it brought here, from less then 2 feet, you that the color kinda aggresses you and your eyes even hurt a little …

The first thing you have to do is to change or to bring some harmony among the colors of the objects around the couch. you can paint the wall behind the couch in a tone of color a little bit lighter that its color, giving the couch this way a change of loosing itself in the scenery.

Also, you can use decorative pillows or some kind of covering to go on the couch and which have the same color as the couch does, only a little lighter. Thrown at random or carefully arranged, these will soften the sharp color that troubles you so much.

There are two ways to get a cover for the couch, you can either buy one or have one done and specially delivered for that trouble- full couch.

The specially made cover will confer a more clean and elegant aspect, being precise for your couch, done to your specifications. Plus, it will neither alter the line nor the shape of the couch, if anything, it will empower it. The only disadvantage is that the special made one will be more expensive that the one that can be bought, causing you to invest more money in “The Couch”…

Continuing education is any learning that you do after High School. Your time spent in college was a form of continuing

If you have some continuing education under your belt, you can easily prove to hiring managers why you are more qualified

XM versus SIRIUS

| Articles | October 22, 2011

The idea of America’s biggest two satellite-radio joining forces has been up in the air for almost four years. Although XM had a year’s start, Sirius came back on the market, eventually with both companies sharing the market in half. So, what’s to choose? XM or Sirius?

First thing’s first. XM and Sirius are based on the same principle, each of them providing music, news, sports, etc. on their channels, but, every service has its ups and downs so we will try to discuss it in this present article. A careful analysis shows that XM Satellite Radio provides a total of 136 streams, where two are premium channels (Playboy and High Voltage), twenty-one are traffic and weather based channels and nine are sport-dedicated ones. On the other hand, Sirius offers a total of 119 streams, the premium streams not being available. Let’s take a closer look now on two music and news – of the categories that the two major satellites are battling.

Music streams comparison

The number of music streams that both services offer is pretty much the same: 65 on Sirius and 68 on XM Satellite Radio but the difference is not in the number, but in the music genres that the radios offer.

Music Decades

XM is the absolute champion in providing the music by decades because you can listen to the 40’s music, service not available on Sirius. Still, you can listen to the 90’s hits together with the current hits on Sirius Satellite Radio, which is an interesting feature.

Music Country

“Ride’ em cowboy!”. Even if you’re not a cowboy, you can listen to country-related songs on both Satellites. Classic country or country hits are to be heard as well as alternative country or country mixes, the last two features being available only on Sirius Satellite Radio. Regarding the number of streams that both Satellites offer, XM offers a total of five streams and Sirius offers four, the champion in this category being XM due to the quality and the quantity of music being played.

Music Rock

If you are looking for sex, drogs, and rock and roll, Sirius and XM Satellite Radios can only offer you rock and roll, on a number of 14 streams on XM and 15 streams on Sirius. The rock subgenres are to be found in a large number on the stations, overall each service being very strong in this category.

Music – Dance and Latin

If you want to boogie, you can do that on both Satellites, listening to one of the six streams provided by Sirius or four streams provided by XM. Be careful though, because you can become a clubber maniac! And if you’re strong enough, the Latin pop stream, Mexicana and tropical music streams can really drive you crazy. XM Satellite Radio as well as Sirius Satellite Radio offer three streams.

Music Other genres

Regarding other genres, both satellites really look up to their prestige, offering hours of hours of music, from Classical to Jazz, even Urban (Sirius feature). Both stations offer high quality tunes, making it worth all the money.

News Streams Comparison

Let’s skip to another interesting topic, news. CNN, FOX, CNBC, Bloomberg, MSNBC and many more news stations are being offered for listening in different languages. The number of streams is again near-by, XM offering a number of 11 news streams, not like Sirius, which offers 13.

Bottom line

It’s pretty hard to say which station is better, XM and Sirius being tied musically but in news and sports, Sirius holding the edge. To make a little joke, if you are a fan of Stern go with Sirius, if you like Q&A go XM. Anyway, it’s hard to say which one is better, but, what can I say is that both Satellites are worth paying for.

Since it was the first national digital satellite radio service provider, XM Satellite Radio Inc. captured an important share of the market and started offering music programs and other types of shows and channels like talk shows, sports, comedy, science and news. XM Satellite Radio Inc. owns the most impressive digital radio equipment and facilities, boasting over 82 end to end broadcasting studios. The digital radio used by XM Satellite Radio Inc. is encoded using the complex CT-aacPlus technology which is broadcast in 128kb/sec format very close to CD quality. The signal produced by using this technology makes the transmission much clearer and more accurate than any analog radio provider could ever offer. There are no noise disturbances that were often present with FM and AM broadcasts and the transmission is crystal clear. The fact that the signal is received in digital form solves many noise disturbance problems and the output is close in fidelity to the original track.

The XM Satellite Radio Rock and Roll satellites

XM Satellite Radio uses two of the most potent commercial satellites, which are constantly orbiting the Earth at a height of 22 300 miles. The two Boeing HS-702 satellites have some inspired names – “Rock” and “Roll”. The first of the two satellites, Rock, was launched in orbit on March 18, 2001 and is currently positioned at 85 degrees West Longitude. It services the western half of the United States and complements the range and area of coverage of its younger “brother” Roll. Roll was launched on May 8, 2001 and it currently positioned at 115 degrees West Longitude, and it services the eastern part of the United States. The combined coverage of the two satellites spreads beyond US borders and reaches areas like Canada or Mexico. This is an interesting feature of satellite radio, as it further points out the benefit of not having to switch radio stations during long trips or while moving over the border. For emergency purposes, the company has third redundant HS-702 satellite on the ground, ready to replace Rock or Roll if any of them fails. Both satellites use different transmission frequencies which prevents interference.

Using the XM radio transmission

The powerful broadcast signal used in satellite radio means that you only need a small receiver in order to be able to listen to digital radio. These small omni-directional antennas are similar to GPS devices and do not require mechanical pointing in order to receive the signal. Some of the new features of satellite radio refer to the extended broadcast information abilities. XM offers information about the broadcast type, and includes the song title, artist, and genre of music. As a recent improvement, XM radio also started broadcasting weather related news and traffic statuses on their programs. In order to use the XM Radio programming you need a XM Radio receiver, an antenna and a subscription to the XM services. Different music equipment producers have teamed up with XM Radio in order to allow adding XM broadcasting to their already existing devices. Some vehicle manufacturers are also offering XM Radio as a factory installed option.
