The Genealogy and Dictionary of Chinese Characters

| Articles | April 30, 2013

Just like any other languages, Chinese uses both pronunciation and meaning on its characters. It is considered as one of humanity’s most enduring and greatest achievements culturally. Chinese character is one of the most used literatures around the world. It is also one of the most widely use art character.

Despite of its achievements, most people of the last century view it as a sub standard in the phonetics of Western Languages. Because of this, China thought of eliminating these characters in the year of 1950. Up to now, a lot of Chinese are still not aware of their writing system tradition. On this article, we will try to understand Chinese characters so that we can appreciate its existence.

The Chinese characters are viewed as complex but in reality they are just made up of a few simple ideographs and pictographs which are built to be remembered easily. In the tradition of Chinese, one syllable corresponds to a single character. Almost all of the words in contemporary times of Chinese are multi-syllabic or polysyllabic which need to write two or more characters. The cognates in different Chinese dialects that have similar definitions but differ in pronunciations are written with similar character.

There are numerous characters originated and used according to Korean and Japanese definitions which will represent as native words. The free relationship between character and phonetics made writings of different and not related languages a possibility.

Sinographs is the other term for Chinese characters thus their writing is called sinography. The usage and design of characters in the Chinese dictionary creates an interesting problem. There are so many indexing schemes which are made for the usage of Chinese characters. Most of these schemes were shown in only one dictionary which has the radicals system.

You can search the Chinese character dictionary in various ways. One is through the radical order wherein the characters are organized into radicals. A radical which consists of fewer strokes are located at the front pages while those that have numerous strokes appear last.

For an instance you want to find the pine tree in the dictionary with a “?” character. The first thing you need to find as the radical in this character which is the “?”. As you can see it has four strokes so you can find this character at the page 4 for the lists of the same radicals.

Another method of looking for a character is through the use of four corner method. In this system, the characters are classified into the shape of the four corners.

On the other hand, a lot of Chinese-English dictionaries utilize the system of pinyin romanization. Just like the radical system, you will need to identify the radical first and count the number of strokes. The said character will have its specific pinyin pronunciation then you can look on the alphabetized pinyin spelling just like the ordinary English dictionary.

This is jus a brief overview of the enriched tradition in Chinese characters. A lot of books with regards to the genealogy and dictionary of Chinese characters are now out in the market. These books would be of great use for those who want to learn more about Chinese characters and want to acquaint themselves on how to write one. It may not be easy at first but a few practice will do the trick.

The Feng Shui Compass

| Articles | April 29, 2013

Ask any good Feng shui consultant and they will tell you that there are no fixed cures for all positions in Feng shui. A good Feng shui house for example may be good during the time it was constructed, but in Feng shui everything is fluid. Time and things changes. Unlike science where there are fixed answers to questions that would be consistent and will give the same result over and over, Feng shui does not. But like science, Feng shui gives answers that are very specific, at least for a definite period of time. This is where the Feng shui compass or the lo pan is useful.

Any Feng shui design, decoration and orientation without using the Feng shui compass will only be a design preference. The orientation that are gathered and the designs and the decorations that are spent to follow a Feng shui principle will not give out its maximum effect. For some it would mean very little and with the passage of time it will amount to nothing.

While it is true that there are eight basic compass direction, a Feng shui compass reading goes far beyond that. For example, a Feng shui reading is dependent on time. There are 24 hours in a day and so there are 24 main divisions. A Feng shui’s time frame of effectivity is about 20 years. Multiply that and factor in the number of different floor plan layouts and your answer to different Feng shui house types is actually infinite. Again there are no fixed cures; this is why the Feng shui compass is very important. It’s reading will determine the particular map of energy of a specific type of house or an edifice. Another thing is that the effectivity of Feng shui is diminished and after 20 years, the energy flow that you once enjoyed will now is gone.

It may not come as a surprise then why the harmony, prosperity and well being of the occupants in the house will now be very much altered than what it was 20 years ago. When the particular period has elapsed, it could be a time you will have to re map, do another reading and realign your house to the changed direction of the energy that is flowing.

Feng shui is exact. The answers are all very specific. What makes it confusing though is often the different level of expertise of the practitioners. The effectivity of the Feng shui reading will often depend on the depth of knowledge of the Feng shui consultant that you employ.

A Feng shui consultant who can provide readings and cure in a whiz may not often be the right consultant. When the readings are done without the aid of a Feng shui compass, start asking questions because the effectivity of Feng shui designs hangs largely on the accuracy of the reader.

You can make your own readings too. Feng shui compass reading and by extension, the practice of Feng shui is not really a very difficult art to master what it take is diligence. This way you could be in a better position to know whether your Feng shui consultant is doing a good job or not. In the Internet are many different stores to shop from. Often they are willing to provide help and instruction to their customers.

The Feng Shui Bagua – Mapping Energy Flow

| Articles | April 28, 2013

You can see this symbol very often. They are in cemeteries, homes (particularly the entranceways) offices etc.

The bagua is octagonal in shape to represent the eight points of the compass. This is so because the eight compass points represent the different energy levels that one is supposed to attract. In Feng shui, the bagua corrects the orientation of an edifice or a village and is supposed to enhance the quality of life of people living in it.

The bagua is placed in such a way that it creates a mapping of the house where corners are determined whereby the occupants harmonizes with these zones for particular activities.

To appreciate the bagua better, imagine it as having eight points with nine quadrants.

The topmost portion is divided into three zones namely (from left to right), the zone of wealth, reputation and partnership.

The middle quadrants are family, taichi and creativity.

The bottom quadrants represent zones for wisdom, career and helpful people.

The movements, intentions, activities and even the decorations in the house should as much as possible be in harmony with these zones so as to derive the benefits of the energy that it emits.

The following are the following zones with its corresponding numerical value and its energy association.

The topmost quadrants:

Wealth 4: The area associated with wealth does not only mean material possessions but all those that are of value to you.

Reputation 9: this is how those that you come to associate with perceive you.

Partnership 2: this zone includes marriages, relationships, business dealings and friendships.

Family 3: more than just a representation for family, this zone also represents ancestors, relations, work mates and friends.

Taichi 5: The center of the bagua. It is very important to keep this one very clear.

Creativity 7: This is the area for artistry, children, fun and the opening up of new projects.

Wisdom 8: The zone has to do with intellectual growth and learning.

Career 1: The area of passage. This is also for careers, job and opportunities and journeys.

Helpful people 6: This zone is for people and relatives that are not around often including people who are not close associates.

The bagua outline influences the inside of buildings. For this reason, the zones with values 8, 1 and 6 lies on the jamb that holds the door. The door also has its own numerical value as with the people living inside those doors. Mapping out the area according to the bagua will require additional knowledge of the numerical values of the person or persons behind the door to get the most benefit form the energy that are flowing through it. Because of this baguas are better placed when the person doing them has a rudimentary knowledge of Feng shui, better yet, when a consultant is employed.

The bagua is also used to determine which area within the room house or building is beneficial. It is also a tool to map out those that are not and identify the differences. Examples of these zones within an area are:

The millionaires corner where you keep your earnings and investments, and often a good place to plan out the business.

The bankruptcy corners where you avoid keeping money matters.

The Matrimonial discord corner.

Marriage corner

Divorce corner

Bargain corner

Before taking up the garden vegetables individually, I shall outline the general practice of cultivation, which applies to all.

The purposes of cultivation are three to get rid of weeds, and to stimulate growth by (1) letting air into the soil and freeing unavailable plant food, and (2) by conserving moisture.

As to weeds, the gardener of any experience need not be told the importance of keeping his crops clean. He has learned from bitter and costly experience the price of letting them get anything resembling a start. He knows that one or two days’ growth, after they are well up, followed perhaps by a day or so of rain, may easily double or treble the work of cleaning a patch of onions or carrots, and that where weeds have attained any size they cannot be taken out of sowed crops without doing a great deal of injury. He also realizes, or should, that every day’s growth means just so much available plant food stolen from under the very roots of his legitimate crops.

Instead of letting the weeds get away with any plant food, he should be furnishing more, for clean and frequent cultivation will not only break the soil up mechanically, but let in air, moisture and heat all essential in effecting those chemical changes necessary to convert non- available into available plant food. Long before the science in the case was discovered, the soil cultivators had learned by observation the necessity of keeping the soil nicely loosened about their growing crops. Even the lanky and untutored aborigine saw to it that his squaw not only put a bad fish under the hill of maize but plied her shell hoe over it. Plants need to breathe. Their roots need air. You might as well expect to find the rosy glow of happiness on the wan cheeks of a cotton-mill child slave as to expect to see the luxuriant dark green of healthy plant life in a suffocated garden.

Important as the question of air is, that of water ranks beside it. You may not see at first what the matter of frequent cultivation has to do with water. But let us stop a moment and look into it. Take a strip of blotting paper, dip one end in water, and watch the moisture run up hill, soak up through the blotter. The scientists have labeled that “capillary attraction” the water crawls up little invisible tubes formed by the texture of the blotter. Now take a similar piece, cut it across, hold the two cut edges firmly together, and try it again. The moisture refuses to cross the line: the connection has been severed.

In the same way the water stored in the soil after a rain begins at once to escape again into the atmosphere. That on the surface evaporates first, and that which has soaked in begins to soak in through the soil to the surface. It is leaving your garden, through the millions of soil tubes, just as surely as if you had a two-inch pipe and a gasoline engine, pumping it into the gutter night and day! Save your garden by stopping the waste. It is the easiest thing in the world to do cut the pipe in two. By frequent cultivation of the surface soil not more than one or two inches deep for most small vegetables the soil tubes are kept broken, and a mulch of dust is maintained. Try to get over every part of your garden, especially where it is not shaded, once in every ten days or two weeks. Does that seem like too much work? You can push your wheel hoe through, and thus keep the dust mulch as a constant protection, as fast as you can walk. If you wait for the weeds, you will nearly have to crawl through, doing more or less harm by disturbing your growing plants, losing all the plant food (and they will take the cream) which they have consumed, and actually putting in more hours of infinitely more disagreeable work. If the beginner at gardening has not been convinced by the facts given, there is only one thing left to convince him experience.

Having given so much space to the reason for constant care in this matter, the question of methods naturally follows. Get a wheel hoe. The simplest sorts will not only save you an infinite amount of time and work, but do the work better, very much better than it can be done by hand. You can grow good vegetables, especially if your garden is a very small one, without one of these labor-savers, but I can assure you that you will never regret the small investment necessary to procure it.

With a wheel hoe, the work of preserving the soil mulch becomes very simple. If one has not a wheel hoe, for small areas very rapid work can be done with the scuffle hoe.

The matter of keeping weeds cleaned out of the rows and between the plants in the rows is not so quickly accomplished. Where hand-work is necessary, let it be done at once. Here are a few practical suggestions that will reduce this work to a minimum, (1) Get at this work while the ground is soft; as soon as the soil begins to dry out after a rain is the best time. Under such conditions the weeds will pull out by the roots, without breaking off. (2) Immediately before weeding, go over the rows with a wheel hoe, cutting shallow, but just as close as possible, leaving a narrow, plainly visible strip which must be hand- weeded. The best tool for this purpose is the double wheel hoe with disc attachment, or hoes for large plants. (3) See to it that not only the weeds are pulled but that every inch of soil surface is broken up. It is fully as important that the weeds just sprouting be destroyed, as that the larger ones be pulled up. One stroke of the weeder or the fingers will destroy a hundred weed seedlings in less time than one weed can be pulled out after it gets a good start. (4) Use one of the small hand-weeders until you become skilled with it. Not only may more work be done but the fingers will be saved unnecessary wear.

The skilful use of the wheel hoe can be acquired through practice only. The first thing to learn is that it is necessary to watch the wheels only: the blades, disc or rakes will take care of themselves.

The operation of “hilling” consists in drawing up the soil about the stems of growing plants, usually at the time of second or third hoeing. It used to be the practice to hill everything that could be hilled “up to the eyebrows,” but it has gradually been discarded for what is termed “level culture”; and you will readily see the reason, from what has been said about the escape of moisture from the surface of the soil; for of course the two upper sides of the hill, which may be represented by an equilateral triangle with one side horizontal, give more exposed surface than the level surface represented by the base. In wet soils or seasons hilling may be advisable, but very seldom otherwise. It has the additional disadvantage of making it difficult to maintain the soil mulch which is so desirable.

Rotation of crops.

There is another thing to be considered in making each vegetable do its best, and that is crop rotation, or the following of any vegetable with a different sort at the next planting.

With some vegetables, such as cabbage, this is almost imperative, and practically all are helped by it. Even onions, which are popularly supposed to be the proving exception to the rule, are healthier, and do as well after some other crop, provided the soil is as finely pulverized and rich as a previous crop of onions would leave it.

Here are the fundamental rules of crop rotation:

(1) Crops of the same vegetable, or vegetables of the same family (such as turnips and cabbage) should not follow each other.

(2) Vegetables that feed near the surface, like corn, should follow deep-rooting crops.

(3) Vines or leaf crops should follow root crops.

(4) Quick-growing crops should follow those occupying the land all season.

These are the principles which should determine the rotations to be followed in individual cases. The proper way to attend to this matter is when making the planting plan. You will then have time to do it properly, and will need to give it no further thought for a year.

With the above suggestions in mind, and put to use , it will not be difficult to give the crops those special attentions which are needed to make them do their very best.

The a-b-c’s of family history genealogy search

| Articles | April 24, 2013

The fact of the matter is that tracing the roots of your family history is a cumbersome if not a very tedious work, yet in the long run is extremely rewarding.

It is a treasure hut of sorts that could unearth plenty of rare gems. Thanks to the internet, documentation and research has never been as easy. The world wide web could help uncover facts and details about relatives you did not know you have.

The following are tips and advice to help you conduct your own family history genealogy search the best way you can.

Trees and family tree

Make good use of the internet when looking for your family tree. Download tree family charts through the website ancestry.com. Another is through the magazine, Family Tree. Use their own family template charts in creating your own list of ancestor dates and names.

Organize, organize, organize

Early on, know just what it is you plan to do. Consider just how it is you are to record all info you will find in your family history genealogy search even before you see yourself getting immersed in the whole process.

As much as possible, fill and record in group family sheets, charts and pedigrees by hand. You could also consider using a computer or a software genealogical program to assist you in organizing all your data.

Using Personal File Ancestry or Family Maker Tree by Reunion is a good idea. These software programs provide you with the ability to backup all your info in a disk.

Document it all

Of course, mere documentation is not enough. It is important that you document everything as carefully and as appropriately as possible.

First things first, copy the book title, reel number of the microfilm, the number of the page, author, publication year, publisher and whatever detail you could see on the sheet cover.

Also take note of just where it is you got the info. An example would be taking down the name of the library, a website or the records and archive division.

Record for posterity’s sake

Any interviews you have conducted with any of your relatives is best to be captured on audiotape or on video, this is so that future family generation could actually hear the words of their ancestors the way they said it and how.

Using a digital video on your shoot is the best option since there is little or no reduction in the quality of the copy. You could save these interviews either on DVD or CD for a lot easier viewing and storing.

Make a type-tree graph

Another suggestion you could do is by making your own tree master graph either through electronic means or via paper. Insert the names of your ancestors, the date of their births, deaths, marriage as you discover each detail.

Make extra copies

Any source material you gather is best to be photocopied especially if they are source printed materials. File them all in folders with appropriate labels such as the name of the relative.

Include the details of their birth dates and dates of death so as to be able to distinguish them between other family members who may have similar names.

All in all, searching for your family history genealogy is fun if you know what you are looking for and how. Hopefully, these tips and advice are helpful in your own family history genealogy search. Good luck!

Techniques Used To Improve Your memory

| Articles | April 23, 2013

As with the regular human tools of our mind, the more we practice with these tools, the more they will be effective in using them. Without practice and effort, one cannot have a good memory. Even one does not have the time required to develop the quality of memory, most of our techniques are very useful in everyday living.

1. Mnemonics

One popular tool to improve the memory is mnemonics which are techniques to remember information that are very hard to recall. The general idea in using mnemonics is to instill hard-to-recall-information in a way that they can easily be remembered.

Our brains are very complex that they can encode and interpret sophisticated data such as colors, images, sound, tastes, positions, and language. These stimuli are used to create a visual image of our world and our memories are used to store these images.

1. Pictures you can use microphone to recall your friend mike or wind for Wendy. Always use positive images because the brain tends to block unpleasant images

2. Words. You can use words that start with the first letter of each word that can represent the initial of what you want to recall. Musicians usually recall the lines of a staff E, G, B, D, and F by memorizing the words “Every good boy does fine.”

3. Acronyms. These are initials that can create words. Musicians recall the spaces in a treble staff by memorizing the word FACE.

4. Rhymes. Most of us have learned that 30 days hath September, April, June and November.

5. Humor. By giving exaggerated symbols to associate facts and figures can be pleasing to brain coding because it is funny and it will be easier to remember.

2. Roman Room System

Roman Room System this technique is usually employed in learning a new foreign language. You can easily learn words while visiting a town with common things that you can see. You can learn new nouns if you can visit the town square and try to be familiarized with the counterpart of common names.

3. The Peg Word System

The peg word system is used to help a person to remember a list in a specific sequence. However, before you can do this, you need to memorize a roster list of peg words. Generally, there are two major ways to do this. Take a closer study of these methods first, and then choose which one you want to use. Alternatively you can use a little bit of imagination and use both methods. The first method is very easy that anyone can use it. Just use numbers 0 to 10 and relate rhyming words with each of these digits.

The best method is to recall words for all numbers pegged from 0 to 99 using another system, the number alphabet. This will greatly help you to form a relation without having to recall a laborious array relation with number rhymes. Alternatively, if you can use peg words, you are ensured to get the right number by using consonant and transforming them to numbers. A longer list is more effective because you will avoid excessive recycling, thus your brain will be less likely to be confused.

But, it will take a longer time for you to memorize. However, once you recalled the peg words, you will be benefited by the list permanently, and you don’t need to recall them ever again.

| Articles | April 22, 2013

Exercise is essentially important to the health of the infant. Its first exercise, of course, will be in the nurse’s arms. After a month or two, when it begins to sleep less during the day, it will delight to roll and kick about on the sofa: it will thus use its limbs freely; and this, with carrying out into the open air, is all the exercise it requires at this period. By and by, however, the child will make its first attempts to walk. Now it is important that none of the many plans which have been devised to teach a child to walk, should be adopted the go-cart, leading-strings, etc.; their tendency is mischievous; and flatness of the chest, confined lungs, distorted spine, and deformed legs, are so many evils which often originate in such practices. This is explained by the fact of the bones in infancy being comparatively soft and pliable, and if prematurely subjected by these contrivances to carry the weight of the body, they yield just like an elastic stick bending under a weight, and as a natural consequence become curved and distorted.

It is highly necessary that the young and experienced mother should recollect this fact, for the early efforts of the little one to walk are naturally viewed by her with so much delight, that she will be apt to encourage and prolong its attempts, without any thought of the mischief which they may occasion; thus many a parent has had to mourn over the deformity which she has herself created.

It may be as well here to remark, that if such distortion is timely noticed, it is capable of correction, even after evident curvature has taken place. It is to be remedied by using those means that shall invigorate the frame, and promote the child’s general health (a daily plunge into the cold bath, or sponging with cold salt water, will be found signally efficacious), and by avoiding the original cause of the distortion never allowing the child to get upon his feet. The only way to accomplish the latter intention, is to put both the legs into a large stocking; this will effectually answer this purpose, while, at the same time, it does not prevent the free and full exercise of the muscles of the legs. After some months pursuing this plan, the limbs will be found no longer deformed, the bones to have acquired firmness and the muscles strength; and the child may be permitted to get upon his feet again without any hazard of perpetuating or renewing the evil.

The best mode of teaching a child to walk, is to let it teach itself, and this it will do readily enough. It will first crawl about: this exercises every muscle in the body, does not fatigue the child, throws no weight upon the bones, but imparts vigour and strength, and is thus highly useful. After a while, having the power, it will wish to do more: it will endeavour to lift itself upon its feet by the aid of a chair, and though it fail again and again in its attempts, it will still persevere until it accomplish it. By this it learns, first, to raise itself from the floor; and secondly, to stand, but not without keeping hold of the object on which it has seized. Next it will balance itself without holding, and will proudly and laughingly show that it can stand alone. Fearful, however, as yet of moving its limbs without support, it will seize a chair or anything else near it, when it will dare to advance as far as the limits of its support will permit. This little adventure will be repeated day after day with increased exultation; when, after numerous trials, he will feel confident of his power to balance himself, and he will run alone. Now time is required for this gradual self-teaching, during which the muscles and bones become strengthened; and when at last called upon to sustain the weight of the body, are fully capable of doing so.

Exercise during childhood.

When the child has acquired sufficient strength to take active exercise, he can scarcely be too much in the open air; the more he is habituated to this, the more capable will he be of bearing the vicissitudes of the climate. Children, too, should always be allowed to amuse themselves at pleasure, for they will generally take that kind and degree of exercise which is best calculated to promote the growth and development of the body. In the unrestrained indulgence of their youthful sports, every muscle of the body comes in for its share of active exercise; and free growth, vigour, and health are the result.

If, however, a child is delicate and strumous, and too feeble to take sufficient exercise on foot, and to such a constitution the respiration of a pure air and exercise are indispensable for the improvement of health, and without them all other efforts will fail, riding on a donkey or pony forms the best substitute. This kind of exercise will always be found of infinite service to delicate children; it amuses the mind, and exercises the muscles of the whole body, and yet in so gentle a manner as to induce little fatigue.

The exercises of horseback, however, are most particularly useful where there is a tendency in the constitution to pulmonary consumption, either from hereditary or accidental causes. It is here beneficial, as well through its influence on the general health, as more directly on the lungs themselves. There can be no doubt that the lungs, like the muscles of the body, acquire power and health of function by exercise. Now during a ride this is obtained, and without much fatigue to the body. The free and equable expansion of the lungs by full inspiration, necessarily takes place; this maintains their healthy structure, by keeping all the air-passages open and pervious; it prevents congestion in the pulmonary circulation, and at the same time provides more completely for the necessary chemical action on the blood, by changing, at each act of respiration, a sufficient proportion of the whole air contained in the lungs, all objects of great importance, and all capable of being promoted, more or less, by the means in question.

Some people are intimidated by cleaning their crystal jewelry. The fact that they are so beautiful and so elegant, people are afraid that if the would be cleaning it incorrectly, its lustre and beauty would lessen. Crystal jewelry is also associated with healing. They are also referred to as healing crystals. They are said to have natural energy that could help the body rejuvenate or strengthen its system. This could also be another factor when cleaning them.

Crystals would retain its energy charge, but it would lose its energy within a few hours. There are also cases that crystals would absorb negative kind of energy that can be felt by the user. Therefore it is important to clear and recharge the crystals. To clear a crystal, it can be placed or soaked in sea salt, usually for the whole night until a couple of days. After that, you can rinse it with some water and then put it under the sun.

Now, putting that aside. Let’s talk about keeping your crystals shining all the time. Crystals would lose it s gleam because of its daily and long time use. Not that we purposefully neglect them, but because some activities would cause it to lose its shine, like applying lotion and makeup. Aside from that, the skin releases natural oil which also conceals the sheen of the jewelry.

Taking care of your crystal jewelry can actually be very inexpensive. Jewelry stores would often sell different jewelry cleaning materials but if you prefer to make your own, then you can easily buy some materials in a grocery store. Baby wipes are a great way to rub off the dirt. It does not contain harmful chemicals that could harm the jewelry. After wiping off the traces of dirt, dry it with cotton. You can also use a soft cloth soaked in warm water.

There would be times when baby wipes and soft cloth could not totally remove the dirt, you can use other cleaning methods. Some would make their own cleaning solution, water, alcohol and dishwashing liquid. Aside from dishwashing liquid, some would prefer using mild laundry detergent. This can be mixed together to clean crystal jewelries.

A soft-bristled toothbrush can also be used to remove the dirt from the crystals, especially if it has corners or the design will have nooks that is difficult to reach by hand. When using a toothbrush, remember that use is lightly and gently, you do not want to have the whole jewelry ruined because you brushed it like how you brush your teeth.

You can also soak the crystal jewelries in the same solution to totally remove the dirt. But it do not over soak it, two minutes will be enough. Rinse the jewelry in lukewarm water, this will take off or wash away the remaining solution. Be sure to dry it well with cotton cloth or tissue. But be cautious when soaking crystal jewelries, some crystal jewelries would have gemstones or semi-gemstones. The are never meant to be soaked!

The problem with gemstones, especially those semi-gemstones like malachite, amber, opal or jade, is that they are very porous. Meaning, they can absorb the detergent and chemicals overtime. Absorption of these kinds of chemicals could eventually lead into the fading of colours of the jewelry. It would be safe to use warm water and a soft cotton cloth to clean gemstones.

Proper cleaning and taking care of you crystal jewelry, would make you able to use it for a long period of time. Crystals are timeless, since they represent elegance, charm and beauty. So if you have one, it would be great to keep them shining for a long period of time.
