Electric Cars: The Solution to Today’s Economic Problem

| Articles | June 15, 2009

A lot of people are now speculating that the automotive industry will start changing. Some people believe that future cars will be like those seen in sci-fi movies while other believe that the cars we will see in the near future will be conventional looking cars but one that will not be using any gasoline at all.

If you look a little closer, you will find that the future is nearly here. Today, you will see several automotive companies and independent manufacturers starting to develop cars that do not require any fossil fuel or gasoline to run. Instead of gasoline, these cars can now run purely on electricity.

In fact, some people are already using electric cars and there may be some that you already passed by in the highway but didn’t really notice it. Electric cars today do not really look like what futuristic movies depict. Instead, it looks very much like your average gasoline powered car. The only difference is that these cars do not have internal combustion engines.

These cars have electric motor to make the car run and it has batteries instead of fuel tank for storing power.

You need to understand that electric cars are not an entirely new concept. Ever since the first car was invented, people have been experimenting on how to make it run. Some people invented steam powered car, some invented the internal combustion engine that runs on gasoline, while there are also others who invented cars that run purely on electricity.

The problem with electric cars back then is the technology itself. The batteries were crude, heavy, and highly unreliable. It took a long time to charge the batteries and the amount of power the batteries were able to store was really limited.

Thanks to the advancement of battery cell technology, the problem was solved. Electric cars today are fast gaining popularity and the batteries installed in these cars are more efficient. The batteries are lighter in weight, more powerful, are able to store much more electricity, and it can also be charged a lot faster.

The great thing about electric cars is that it doesn’t use any gasoline at all. This means that you don’t have to spend another cent on gasoline or any other type of fuel in order for you to get the car to run. Some people are concerned that the electricity bill will just offset the savings that you will make on gasoline. This is not entirely true. For just a dollar’s worth of electricity, you will be able to go a hundred miles or more with your electric car. This is how efficient electric cars are today.

In addition to gasoline savings, the federal government is also encouraging people to go electric. Today, the federal government is now offering huge tax breaks on people who owns and use electric cars. This means that you will not only save money on gasoline, but you will also save money on taxes.

Another great benefit of using electric car is that you will also contribute to the overall well being of the environment. Because these cars run purely on electricity, it will not emit any harmful fumes, which can harm both the health as well as the environment.

So, if you are looking for a solution for your money problems, you may want to take a look at your car first. By going electric, you will be able to save thousands of dollars a year on gasoline.
